Our story

Honestly?
I just wanted to
golf more.

You know the drill. Someone posts in the group chat — “anyone free Saturday?” — and then you spend the next 48 hours watching 47 unread messages pile up while trying to figure out if you're actually playing or not. Half the people who said yes bail. The other half never saw it. And you end up either playing alone or not at all.

I'm In

The story

That was me.
Every single week.

I love golf. I learned when I was a kid, but got back into it a few years ago and I am completely obsessed. But here's the thing nobody tells you — finding women to play with is actually really hard.

My usual group is always busy. The courses pair you with strangers. And posting in a WhatsApp group or on Facebook feels like shouting into the void. You either miss the thread entirely or you're the one coordinating 12 people who can never agree on a time.

I didn't want to manage a group chat. I just wanted to show up and play with people who actually wanted to be there.

So I built Sonder. Not because I had some grand business vision. Because I wanted to golf on Saturday and I needed a better way to find my people.

Sonder is a Play Date matchmaker for women golfers. Tell us when you want to play, what kind of round you're looking for, and the courses you love and we'll quietly find you the right group. No chaos. No group chats. Just a notification that says ‘we found your people’ and a tee time waiting.

We also rate every course on a Vibe Score because whether the locker room is actually nice, whether the staff makes you feel welcome, and whether the forward tees are worth playing matters. A lot. And nobody was tracking that for us.

Sonder is built for every woman who loves golf and just needs her people, whether you've been playing your whole life or picked it up last year and can't stop thinking about it. That's it. That's who this is for.

Come play with us.

What we built

Two things.
Both for you.

The Vibe Score

Every golf course on Sonder has a Vibe Score — rated by women, for women, across five categories that actually matter: locker room quality, tee options, how welcome the staff makes you feel, pro shop, and food and drinks after.

🌿

A Community That Gets It

Rate courses, share rounds, find events at courses near you, and build your golf network with women who love the game as much as you do. Sonder is where women golfers actually belong.

Path One

Post your tee time.
Let them come to you.

Already have a tee time booked but need one or two more? Or just know you want to play Saturday and want to put it out there? Post it on the Board — your date, your time, your vibe — and women near you can join instantly. No approval process, no awkward vetting. Someone joins, you get a notification. Simple as that.

⛳ Your post on the Board

Path Two

Browse the Board.
Find your kind of group.

Not sure when you want to play? Browse the live Board and find a group that already fits your schedule, your course, and your vibe. Filter by location, day, or time. When you find one that feels right — tap ‘I'm In’ and you're added instantly. The host gets a notification. The group fills. Everyone plays.

And if you'd rather not do either — just set your preferences in your profile and let Sonder's matching engine do the work quietly in the background. We'll notify you when we've found a group that fits. No posting required.

Who this is for

If any of these sound like you —
hi, welcome.

🏌️‍♀️

The newer golfer who's obsessed

You picked it up in the last couple of years and now you think about golf constantly. You want to play more but your network of women golfers is still pretty small.

📱

The group chat coordinator who's exhausted

You love organizing golf with your friends — but you're tired of being the one who has to track down 12 people to find 3 who can actually make it work.

🌿

The woman who moved and lost her golf crew

New city, new clubs, nobody to play with. You know the game but you don't know anyone. Sonder is how you find your people in a new place.

Why Sonder

The name means
something.

Sonder is a word from The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows. It describes the realization that each person you pass has a life as vivid and complex as your own — full of people they love, things they're anxious about, moments that made them who they are.

We chose it because that's exactly the spirit of what we're building. Every woman who shows up on the Board or gets matched with you has her own story, her own reason for being out there, her own version of the Saturday morning group chat disaster.

Sonder is the moment you look across the fairway and realize the woman on the next hole might be exactly who you've been looking for to play with. That connection is what we're building toward.

“The realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.”

— The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows
